This course has a common first year.

The common first year enables you to work alongside students doing similar courses to you, to widen your knowledge and exposure to other subject areas and professions. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other students, so you can share your insights and experience which will help you to develop and learn.

If you discover an interest in a specific subject you have studied, upon successful completion of your first year, you could swap degrees with another course in your common first year (subject to meeting progression requirements).

Marketing, Digital and Social Media - 20 credits

This module develops your knowledge and understanding of the fundamental concepts in marketing, including digital and social media.
You should develop an understanding of the role of marketing within an organisation, and the influence of factors in the external environment on marketing decisions.

This module introduces the fundamental concepts and principles of data analytics, and how they can be applied to assess and enhance organisational and functional performance and support decision-making.

This module is designed to help you develop an analytical mindset, deepen your understanding, and prepare you to use innovative data analytic tools, techniques, and methods.

Entrepreneurial Ideation - 20 credits

The aim of this module is to introduce you to the process of entrepreneurial ideation. Entrepreneurial ideation is the creative process of generating, developing, and communicating new ideas.

Through authentic and applied assessment, you will be invited to present your ideas to business and organisational leaders.²

Entrepreneurial Thinking - 20 credits

The aim of this module is to enable you to engage critically and creatively with entrepreneurship in the context of responsible management practice. Following an introduction to the key concepts and debates of general entrepreneurial principles, you will actively explore social, economic, and environmental challenges.

In year two, you will continue to develop the skills and knowledge you’ve learnt. We do this by embedding the following four principles into the curriculum and developing your:

Technical skills – digital fluency, backed with the right academic knowledge
Study skills – to be an adaptive, independent and proactive learner
Professional skills – to have the behaviour and abilities to succeed in your career
Global awareness – the beliefs and abilities to be a resilient, confident and motivated global citizen.

Innovation in Practice – 20 credits

The aim of this module is for you to have opportunities to work collaboratively with organisations to develop innovative solutions to wicked problems.²

The curriculum will be enhanced with guest speaker sessions from entrepreneurs and key organisational leaders (where available). Through an applied critical evaluation of the academic literature on a contemporary challenge, you will provide a detailed and scholarly approach to thinking differently about current issues.

Designing a Research Proposal – 20 credits

The aim of this module is to provide you with the opportunity to identify current or global challenges in the environment and present ideas to address those issues in a proactive manner.
You can expect to develop an awareness and a critical understanding of key research methodologies within your chosen area of study and design a proposal for researching the relevant contemporary issues.

This module is designed to develop your understanding of the concepts and tools commonly used in financial and management accounting.

The module will introduce you to the financial statements that are regularly produced by business organisations, as well as the tools that can be used to interpret these and evaluate financial performance.

Managing People in a Global Context – 20 credits

This module provides you with the opportunity to critically appraise the impact of globalisation on human resource management strategies. The module introduces the key concepts for understanding international human resource management and explores the practice of managing human resources in an international context. Intercultural factors will also be examined and appraised from the viewpoint of values, cultures and societies.

Data Visualisation for Business Insights – 20 credits

This module aims to familiarise you with the field of data visualisation, imparting fundamental principles of data and model representation. Emphasis will be placed on the skill of transforming data into graphical depictions to articulate and delve into information, scrutinise hypotheses and relationships, and effectively present evidence.

Special consideration will be given to data storytelling for organisational decision-making. Throughout the course, you should acquire skills in visualising diverse data types and formats, while becoming acquainted with a mix of industry-standard and open-source software.

Supply Chain Analytics – 20 credits

This module aims to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of Supply Chain Analytics with a global outlook and prepare you for future study in this field. The module covers topics such as data visualisation, descriptive analytics, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics.

You should learn how to collect and analyse data to improve supply chain operations, make data-driven decisions, and optimise performance. The module also explores the role of technology in supply chain analytics, including the use of big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

There’s no better way to find out what you love doing than trying it out for yourself, which is why a work placement² can often be beneficial. Work placements usually occur between your second and final year of study. They’re a great way to help you explore your potential career path and gain valuable work experience, whilst developing transferable skills for the future.

This module provides you with an opportunity to reflect upon and gain experience for an approved placement² undertaken during your programme. A placement should usually be at least 26 weeks or equivalent; however, each placement will be considered on its own merits, having regard to the ability to achieve the learning outcomes.

International Study/Work Placement – 0 credits

This module provides you with an opportunity to reflect upon and gain experience for an approved international study/work placement² undertaken during your programme. A work/study placement should usually be at least 26 weeks or equivalent; however, each placement will be considered on its own merits, having regard to the ability to achieve the learning outcomes.

The final year aims to bring you to the level to enter the world of work by consolidating your knowledge and skills from years one and two.

Final Year Project – 40 credits

This module aims to provide you with the opportunity to apply and develop your research skills and to extend your knowledge, understanding and ability to critically analyse a topic in a specialist area of interest. You will receive academic support through a series of group supervisions and will be allocated a project supervisor.

Analytics and AI in Action – 20 credits

This module is designed to provide you with application-oriented skills and knowledge in the field of business analytics. The module specifically demonstrates how a range of business analytics techniques enable data-driven decision-making in various business-centric application domains. This would especially include domains such as marketing, finance and human resource management.

Practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in each domain would also be demonstrated. Throughout the course, you will work on real-world case studies and projects to gain hands-on experience with data analytics in business contexts.

Applied Business Simulation – 20 credits

The module provides you with a hands-on experience in applying simulation techniques and principles to realistic business scenarios. Through the utilisation of business simulation techniques and case studies, you should develop your analytical skills while exploring various aspects of business operations such as marketing, finance, operations and strategy.

Project Management – 20 credits

This module focuses on project management in the business environment, aimed at enhancing your understanding and equipping you with both soft and technical skills. It is designed to help you understand the concept of project management, where projects come from, business case development and the selection process, with application to various contexts, harnessing the skills to lead and work on a variety of projects.

The importance of project management scheduling skills, quality, estimating standards, as well as risks and stakeholders' management is emphasised within this module.

Critical Issues in Globalisation – 20 credits

This module defines the scope of international business and differentiates between domestic operations and business in an international context.

The module is designed to help you recognise the dynamics of international business. World trade patterns and the functions of international institutions will be examined. The business strategies used by organisations to achieve their international objectives will be brought into the context of the global economic and political environment. Influences in the international business environment will be assessed in relation to the formulation of global business strategies.

Business Process Management – 20 credits

This module aims to equip you with both the fundamentals of Business Process Management (BPM) through to the advanced skills, knowledge and tools of process management and measurement, process analysis, process improvement/transformation and process modelling/design.

This module aims to provide you with a holistic view of how to improve a business process from end-to-end by analysing, simulating, and modelling how it works in different scenarios, executing improvements, monitoring the improved process, and continually optimising it.

Managing Global Organisations – 20 credits

This module aims to demonstrate value generation by managing global organisations through the synergies and contradictions of global business operations. You will explore how contemporary global corporations manage their operations across the globe to attain a competitive advantage over the long run.

Through this approach, this module aims to integrate theoretical frameworks and learning from other modules on the programme while drawing on management and organisational theories relevant to the context of managing the global organisation.

Purchasing and Procurement – 20 credits

This module introduces a range of purchasing and procurement concepts and techniques that are employed within the purchasing and procurement departments enabling both small and large enterprises to be both competitive and successful within a global marketplace.

You will be exposed to key concepts, frameworks and techniques involved in managing supply inputs and how these might be implemented by managers in real business situations. This module takes knowledge already gained to enable you to assess and evaluate competitive conditions and identify ways in which organisations can establish sustainable competitive advantage in the industry sector.

Strategic Entrepreneurship – 20 credits

Strategic entrepreneurship is the integration of entrepreneurship and strategic management. Both concepts, in different ways, focus on how organisations initiate or respond to change by exploring opportunities within the environment in which they operate.

In this module, you will explore the strategic roles of creativity, opportunity identification and evaluation, and innovation in the emergence and growth of entrepreneurial organisations.

How you'll learn

We understand that everyone learns differently, so each of our courses will consist of structured teaching sessions, which may include:

Teaching contact hours

As a full-time undergraduate student, you will study modules totalling 120 credits each academic year. A typical 20 credit module requires a total of 200 hours study. This is made up of teaching contact hours, guided and independent study.

Teaching hours:

Teaching hours vary each semester, year of study and due to module selection. During your first year you can expect 15-18 teaching hours each week. You will also have the option to attend optional sessions including time with a progress coach or to meet with staff for advice and feedback. As you progress through your studies, teaching hours may reduce.

Guided and independent study:

Throughout your studies, you will be expected to spend time in guided and independent study to make up the required study hours per module. You'll be digging deeper into topics, review what you've learnt and complete assignments. This can be completed around your personal commitments. As you progress through your studies, you'll spend more time in independent study.

Online learning:

As an innovative university, we use different teaching methods including online tools and emerging technologies. So, some of your teaching hours and assessments may be delivered online.

**EU Support Bursary

Following the UK's exit from the European Union, we are offering financial support to all eligible EU students who wish to study an undergraduate or a postgraduate degree with us full-time. This bursary will be used to offset the cost of your tuition fees to bring them in line with that of UK students. Students studying a degree with a foundation year with us are not eligible for the bursary.

How do you know if you need to pay UK or international tuition fees?

We carry out an initial fee status assessment based on the information you provide in your application. Your fee status determines your tuition fees, and what financial support and scholarships may be available to you. The rules about who pays UK (home) or international (overseas) fees for higher education courses in England are set by the Department for Education. The regulations identify all the different categories of student who can insist on paying the home rate. The regulations can be difficult to understand, so the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) has provided fee status guidance to help you identify whether you are eligible to pay the home or overseas rate.

If you meet all the criteria required by any one category, including any residence requirements, your institution must charge you the home rate. You only need to find one category that you fit into.

Offering skill-based training that uses simulation games, role-play activities and scenario-based learning, the business simulation suite is an all-encompassing space for experimental business learning and training.

By accepting your offer of a place and enrolling with us, a Student Contract will be formed between you and the university.
